Dillian Whyte 2/7 to defeat Russian heavyweight Alexander Povetkin in Rumble on the Rock
Thursday 25th March 2021 – Boxing punters are backing Dillian Whyte to gain revenge on Alexander Povetkin at Rumble on the Rock, with the Brixton Body Snatcher now 2/7 with Sporting Index to win the fight.
The two will face each other in Gibraltar this Saturday, seven months after the Russian landed a fifth-round uppercut knockout on Whyte, but the boxing experts don’t expect a repeat scenario.
British boxer Whyte is now just 2/7 to win the fight, 8/11 to win by knockout and 3/1 to win on points. Povetkin is 5/2 to win the fight by any method, 10/3 to win by knockout again, and 14/1 to win on points.
The winner of Saturday’s contest is set to be rewarded with a big-money heavyweight title fight against the winner of Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.
Neville Burdock, Head Trader at Sporting Index, said: “Dillian Whyte is heavy favourite for Saturday’s bout in Gibraltar, despite being on the receiving end of a knockout against Alexander Povetkin in August last year.
“The Brixton Body Snatcher is now just 2/7 after being heavily backed by punters to get revenge this weekend. And boxing fans are expecting him to land a knockout as the method of victory at 8/11.
“But it would be silly to completely write off Povetkin, and the Russian is available at 5/2 to secure a second victory against Whyte, and 10/3 to land another knockout blow.”
